Ingredients for Asparagus With Toasted Almonds

  • 1 pound asparagus
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Salt & Freshly Ground Black Pepper

How to Make Asparagus With Toasted Almonds

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water (about 4 quarts) to a rolling boil.
  2. Snap off and discard the tough ends of the asparagus.
  3. Cut the trimmed asparagus spears on a diagonal into 2-inch pieces.
  4. Add asparagus to the boiling water and cook until crisp-tender, about 4 minutes.
  5. Immediately drain the asparagus and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.
  6. Pat the asparagus thoroughly dry with paper towels.
  7. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  8. Add 1/2 cup slivered almonds to the skillet and cook, stirring frequently, until lightly golden brown and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
  9. Transfer the toasted almonds to a plate and set aside.
  10. Add 1 clove minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 1 minute, or until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  11. Add the asparagus to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until heated through, about 5 minutes.
  12. Stir in the toasted almonds.
  13. Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  14. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
