How to Make Avocado Beef Burgers
- Cut avocados in half, remove pits, and peel.
- Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice over both avocado halves to prevent browning.
- Slice one avocado half and set aside for topping.
- Mash the remaining avocado half in a medium bowl with a fork.
- Add 1-2 minced jalapeƱos (adjust to taste), 1 large egg, 1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onion, 2 minced garlic cloves, salt, and pepper to the mashed avocado.
- Stir until well combined.
- Gently fold in 1 pound of ground beef until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Refrigerate the patties for at least 10 minutes to firm up.
- Preheat your outdoor grill to medium heat or heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- Grill or pan-fry the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and no longer pink inside.
- Top each patty with a slice of Monterey Jack cheese during the last minute of cooking and let it melt.
- While the patties cook, butter each hamburger bun and toast lightly on the top rack of the grill or in a broiler for 1-2 minutes per side.
- Spread mayonnaise on the toasted buns.
- Layer each burger with a patty, tomato slice, a slice of the reserved avocado, onion, and lettuce.
- Serve immediately with your favorite side dish, such as french fries or potato chips.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
