Ingredients for Bacon Cheese Melt

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 slices bread
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • a few lettuce leaves
  • Tomatoes
  • 2-3 pickle slices
  • 1/4 small onion, thinly sliced

How to Make Bacon Cheese Melt

  1. Preheat your oven's broiler to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Cook 4 slices of bacon until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
  4. Place 2 slices of bread on a baking sheet.
  5. Broil for 2-3 minutes per side, or until lightly toasted.
  6. Remove bread from oven and spread 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese) on each slice of toasted bread.
  7. Return the baking sheet to the oven and broil for another 2-3 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. While the cheese melts, thinly slice 1/2 a tomato, 1/4 of a small onion, and prepare 2-3 pickle slices and a few lettuce leaves.
  9. Spread a thin layer of low-fat mayonnaise or mustard on one slice of cheesy bread (optional).
  10. Layer tomato, onion, pickle, and lettuce on the mayonnaise/mustard-spread slice. Top with bacon.
