- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Tear off a 12x12 inch square of heavy-duty aluminum foil for each salmon fillet.
- Place 2-3 thin slices of lemon (about 1 tablespoon total) in a line in the center of each foil square.
- Rinse and gently pat dry 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets. Place one fillet on top of the lemon slices in each foil square.
- Season each fillet generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper (about 1/4 teaspoon of each per fillet).
- Add a small pat (1 teaspoon) of butter (optional) to each fillet.
- Fold up the sides of the foil to create a sealed packet, leaving some airspace inside for steam.
- Place the packets on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
