Ingredients for Ground Beef And Cabbage Casserole

  • 1 lb ground beef (or 1 lb seasoned pork sausage, or 1 lb leftover taco seasoned meat)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • 24 oz (2 (12 oz) cans) tomato sauce
  • Cabbage
  • Kraft Grated Parmesan Cheese

How to Make Ground Beef And Cabbage Casserole

  1. Brown 1 lb ground beef (or 1 lb seasoned pork sausage, or 1 lb leftover taco meat) in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spoon.
  2. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Return the beef (or sausage/taco meat) to the skillet. Add 1 medium onion (chopped), 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional). Cook for 2-3 minutes, until fragrant.
  4. Stir in 24 oz (2 (12 oz) cans) tomato sauce. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and cook for 10 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Lightly grease a 2 1/2-quart casserole dish with cooking spray.
  7. Add 4 cups shredded cabbage (about 1 medium head) to the bottom of the casserole dish.
  8. Pour half of the meat and tomato sauce mixture over the cabbage.
  9. Layer the remaining cabbage and then the remaining meat sauce on top.
  10. Sprinkle 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
  11. Cover the casserole dish and bake for 45 minutes, or until heated through and bubbly. If desired, broil for the last 2-3 minutes to brown the cheese.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Elevate your dish with simple flavor boosters! A final flourish of freshly chopped herbs can add incredible brightness, while a squeeze of lemon or lime juice right before serving can awaken all the flavors. Don't underestimate a sprinkle of quality finishing salt or a drizzle of good olive oil to make your creation shine.
