How to Make Bacon Cheeseburger Puff Rolls
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
- In a large skillet, cook 1 lb ground beef, 4 slices bacon, and 1/2 cup chopped sweet onion over medium heat until bacon is crisp and onions are translucent. Break up beef as it cooks.
- Add 1/2 red bell pepper (chopped) and 2 cloves garlic (minced) to the skillet. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 tsp dried oregano, 1 tsp dried basil, 1/4 cup chopped green onions, and 1/4 cup ketchup. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Allow the meat mixture to cool completely. Refrigerating for 30 minutes will speed up the process.
- On a lightly floured surface, gently roll out one sheet (14.1 oz) of puff pastry to a 12x10 inch rectangle between two sheets of plastic wrap.
- Remove the top sheet of plastic wrap. Spread half of the cooled ground beef mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a 1-inch border.
- Sprinkle with 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese.
- Carefully use the bottom sheet of plastic wrap to lift and roll the puff pastry lengthwise into a log. Seal the seam tightly by brushing with 1 egg white.
- Repeat steps 6-9 with the remaining puff pastry and filling.
- Place the logs seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with remaining egg white.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing each roll diagonally into 4 pieces. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce (bacon ranch or marinara).
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
