  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

How to Make Barbecued Turkey Drumsticks

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Arrange turkey drumsticks in a large casserole dish.
  3. Season drumsticks generously with salt and pepper. Add 1/2 cup of water to the bottom of the dish.
  4. Cover the casserole dish tightly with a lid or aluminum foil.
  5. Bake for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, or until the turkey is almost cooked through.
  6. Increase oven temperature to 425°F (220°C).
  7. While the oven heats, melt 1/4 cup of butter in a separate baking pan.
  8. Remove the turkey drumsticks from the casserole dish and place them in the baking pan with the melted butter.
  9. Turn the drumsticks to coat them evenly with the butter.
  10. Bake uncovered for 15 minutes, basting occasionally.
  11. Reduce oven temperature back to 350°F (175°C).
  12. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup ketchup, 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, 1 teaspoon dry mustard, and 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg.
