Ingredients for Ground Beef And Sausage Red Beans And Rice

  • White Rice
  • 1 pound kielbasa
  • Ground Cayenne Pepper
  • Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pork and beans

How to Make Ground Beef And Sausage Red Beans And Rice

  1. Cook 1 cup of long-grain white rice according to package directions in a large pot.
  2. Cut 1 pound of kielbasa into 1-inch chunks and then quarter the chunks.
  3. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the kielbasa for 5-10 minutes, until lightly browned. Season with 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (or to taste).
  4. Transfer the browned kielbasa to the pot with the cooked rice, reserving the grease in the skillet.
  5. In the same skillet, over medium-high heat, brown 1 pound of ground beef for 5 minutes, breaking it up with a spoon.
  6. Add 1 medium onion, chopped, to the skillet with the ground beef and saute for another 5 minutes.
  7. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  8. Add the cooked ground beef and onion mixture to the pot with the rice and kielbasa.
  9. Stir in 1 (15-ounce) can of kidney beans (drained and rinsed), 1 (15-ounce) can of pinto beans (drained and rinsed), and 1 (15-ounce) can of pork and beans.
  10. Add 1 cup of water (or more, if needed) to the pot. Stir to combine.
  11. Bring to a simmer over low heat, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until heated through and flavors have melded.

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
