How to Make Ground Beef And Sausage Red Beans And Rice
- Cook 1 cup of long-grain white rice according to package directions in a large pot.
- Cut 1 pound of kielbasa into 1-inch chunks and then quarter the chunks.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the kielbasa for 5-10 minutes, until lightly browned. Season with 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (or to taste).
- Transfer the browned kielbasa to the pot with the cooked rice, reserving the grease in the skillet.
- In the same skillet, over medium-high heat, brown 1 pound of ground beef for 5 minutes, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Add 1 medium onion, chopped, to the skillet with the ground beef and saute for another 5 minutes.
- Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
- Add the cooked ground beef and onion mixture to the pot with the rice and kielbasa.
- Stir in 1 (15-ounce) can of kidney beans (drained and rinsed), 1 (15-ounce) can of pinto beans (drained and rinsed), and 1 (15-ounce) can of pork and beans.
- Add 1 cup of water (or more, if needed) to the pot. Stir to combine.
- Bring to a simmer over low heat, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until heated through and flavors have melded.
