Ingredients for Almond Crescent Puffs

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine
  • 1/2 cup water
  • All Purpose Flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract (1 teaspoon for filling, 1/4 teaspoon for glaze)
  • Pillsbury Refrigerated Crescent Dinner Rolls
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-4 tablespoons milk (for glaze consistency)
  • Candy Sprinkles

How to Make Almond Crescent Puffs

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a large baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine 1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine and 1/2 cup water.
  3. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove from heat and add 1 cup all-purpose flour all at once. Stir vigorously until a smooth ball forms.
  5. Return the saucepan to low heat and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute to cook out any raw flour taste.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  7. Beat in 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  8. Stir in 1 teaspoon of almond extract.
  9. Unroll the crescent roll dough into 4 rectangles. Firmly press the perforations to seal.
  10. Cut each rectangle in half lengthwise, then make 3 crosswise cuts in each half to create 32 pieces.
  11. Place the dough pieces 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  12. Spoon 2 rounded teaspoons of the almond filling onto each dough piece, spreading it slightly.
  13. Bake for 16-18 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  14. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 20 minutes, or until completely cool.
  15. While the puffs cool, prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar with 2-4 tablespoons of milk until smooth and desired consistency is reached.
  16. Stir in 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract.
  17. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled puffs.
  18. Immediately sprinkle with sprinkles, if desired.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
