Ingredients for Ham Di Parma

  • 8 ounces cooked spaghetti
  • 6 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • Salt And Black Pepper
  • Fresh Mushrooms
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • Dry White Wine
  • Cooked Ham
  • Green Olives
  • Chopped Pimiento
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

How to Make Ham Di Parma

  1. Preheat oven to broil.
  2. Butter a large (approximately 9x13 inch) baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the hot cooked spaghetti with 4 tablespoons of butter, 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.
  4. Place the spaghetti into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms, onion, oregano, and garlic. Sauté for 5 minutes, until softened.
  6. Transfer the mushroom mixture to a bowl, leaving the butter in the skillet.
  7. Reduce heat to low. Whisk in the flour and cook for 2 minutes, until smooth.
  8. Gradually whisk in the heavy cream. Bring to a simmer, then boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  9. Stir in the remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, white wine, ham strips, olives, pimientos (if using), salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes, covered, over low heat.
  10. Pour the creamy ham mixture over the spaghetti in the baking dish.
  11. Sprinkle with the mozzarella cheese.
  12. Broil for 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and lightly browned.
  13. Let stand for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Elevate your dish with simple flavor boosters! A final flourish of freshly chopped herbs can add incredible brightness, while a squeeze of lemon or lime juice right before serving can awaken all the flavors. Don't underestimate a sprinkle of quality finishing salt or a drizzle of good olive oil to make your creation shine.
