How to Make Hawaiian Shrimp Truck Special Garlic Lemon Butter Shrimp
- In a gallon-sized ziplock bag or medium bowl, combine 1 pound shrimp, 2 tablespoons olive oil, juice of 1 lemon, 4 cloves minced garlic, 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Seal the bag or cover the bowl tightly. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or up to 24 hours for maximum flavor.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Once the butter is melted, carefully remove the shrimp from the marinade using a slotted spoon, reserving the marinade. Season shrimp with additional salt and pepper.
- Add the shrimp to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink and cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the reserved marinade to the skillet and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom.
- Add 4 tablespoons salted butter to the skillet and cook until the garlic is golden brown and caramelized, about 3-5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, the juice of 1/2 lemon, and lemon zest (optional).
- Pour the warm garlic butter sauce over the cooked shrimp.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
- Serve immediately over steamed white rice, with a lemon wedge and a pineapple slice for a beautiful and flavorful presentation.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
