How to Make Healthy Whole Wheat Dinner Rolls
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine 1/2 cup milk, 1/4 cup plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, and 4 tablespoons margarine. Microwave for 1 minute, or until warm and the margarine is melted.
- Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Add the wet ingredients, along with the remaining dry ingredients (see ingredients list), to your bread machine. Select the dough cycle.
- Once the dough cycle is complete, gently turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and shape each into a smooth roll.
- Place the rolls in a lightly greased 12-cup muffin tin (this helps maintain shape) or on a lightly greased baking sheet.
- Cover the rolls loosely with a damp kitchen towel and let rise in a warm place (such as on the stovetop with the oven preheating) for 30-45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly in the pan before serving. Enjoy warm!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
