Ingredients for Quick Buns

  • Sugar
  • Water
  • Active Dry Yeast
  • Milk
  • Salt
  • Butter
  • Flour

How to Make Quick Buns

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir well to combine.
  3. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  6. Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Cover the buns loosely with plastic wrap and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Let the buns cool slightly on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
