How to Make Cake Pops
- Bake a 13.4 oz box of cake mix according to package directions. Let cool completely.
- Crumble the cooled cake into a food processor. Process in batches if necessary. Transfer the crumbs to a large mixing bowl.
- Add 1 (16 oz) can of store-bought frosting (or make your own equivalent) to the cake crumbs. Mix until a dough-like consistency forms.
- Using a small cookie scoop (approximately 1 inch in diameter), scoop out the cake mixture and roll into 1-inch balls.
- Melt 12 oz of Wilton candy melts according to package directions.
- Dip the very end of a lollipop stick into the melted candy coating and insert about halfway into each cake ball.
- Refrigerate the uncoated cake pops for at least 1 hour to firm up.
- Re-melt the Wilton candy melts if necessary. Dip each cake pop into the melted coating, turning to coat completely. Gently tap off excess coating.
- Immediately insert the coated cake pops into a styrofoam block or similar container to allow them to set. Decorate with sprinkles while the coating is still wet.
- Once the coating has set, insert cake pops into lollipop treat bags and secure with a twist tie or ribbon.
- For an extra touch, drizzle with additional melted candy melts in your favorite colors or designs.
