How to Make Polish Delights
- Brown 1 lb ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease.
- Brown 1 lb Polish sausage (kielbasa recommended), sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds, in a separate skillet. Drain excess grease.
- In a large pot, combine the browned beef, sausage, 1 (15 ounce) can sauerkraut (drained), 1 (15 ounce) can sauerkraut juice, 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1/2 cup finely chopped onion, 1 teaspoon caraway seeds, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Stir until cheese is melted and thoroughly combined.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place approximately 1 teaspoon of the meat mixture onto each slice of bread. (Use approximately 24 slices of bread)
- Place the assembled appetizers on baking sheets lined with parchment paper and freeze for 10 minutes, or until set. (Freezing helps prevent the appetizers from falling apart during baking).
- Once set, remove from baking sheets and place in freezer-safe bags for long-term storage.
- To bake, remove desired number of appetizers from the freezer. Arrange them on a baking sheet.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes, or until heated through and bubbly.
