Cómo preparar French Onion French Dip Sammies With Roasted Garlic Au Jus
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Cut about 1/4 inch off the top of 1 whole head of garlic. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil. Wrap tightly in aluminum foil.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until golden brown and tender.
- Remove from oven and let cool completely.
- While garlic roasts, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil and 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add 2 large yellow onions ( thinly sliced), 1 bay leaf, and 2 sprigs of fresh thyme. Cook gently, stirring occasionally, for 30-40 minutes, or until onions are deeply caramelized and golden brown.
- Season caramelized onions with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
- Once garlic is cool enough to handle, squeeze the roasted cloves into a bowl. Mash with a fork into a paste.
- In a medium saucepan, heat 4 cups beef broth over medium-high heat. Whisk in the mashed roasted garlic.
- To assemble, dip thinly sliced roast beef (about 8 oz) into the warm garlic au jus.
- Place the beef on 4 crusty rolls. Top each sandwich with a generous portion of the caramelized onions.
- Serve immediately with extra au jus for dipping.
