  8. In a bowl, whisk together the beef consommé, tomato juice, water, mustard, salt, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder (if using).
  9. Pour the liquid mixture evenly over the chops and vegetables.
  10. Sprinkle the raw rice around the meat.
  11. Add hot sauce or chopped hot pepper (if using).
  12. Cover the pot tightly and bring to a boil over high heat.
  13. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 hour, or until the pork chops are cooked through and the rice is tender.
  14. If needed, add a little more water during simmering if the liquid evaporates too quickly.
