Como fazer Lemongrass And Ginger Iced Tea Laos

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 cup water. Add 2 stalks lemongrass (bruised) and 1 inch piece of ginger (peeled and thinly sliced).
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let the lemongrass and ginger steep in the sugar syrup for at least 30 minutes. For a more intense flavor, steep in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight.
  5. While the syrup steeps, bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a separate saucepan.
  6. Add 4 black tea bags (or 2 tablespoons loose leaf black tea) to the boiling water. Turn off the heat and let steep for 5 minutes.
  7. Remove tea bags (or strain loose leaf tea) and discard.
  8. Pour the brewed tea into a heat-proof pitcher.
  9. Strain the lemongrass-ginger syrup through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the solids to extract maximum flavor. Discard the solids.
  10. Add the lemongrass-ginger syrup to the pitcher of tea.
  11. Add 3 cups of cold water to the tea and stir well.
  12. Chill the tea thoroughly in the refrigerator.
  13. Serve over ice. Garnish with a lemongrass stalk and/or a thin ginger slice (optional).
