How to Make Cheerios Treats

  1. In a large saucepan, heat 1/2 cup (120ml) of light corn syrup over medium heat until boiling. Remove from heat immediately.
  2. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 cup (200g) of semi-sweet chocolate chips until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Add 5 cups (150g) of Cheerios cereal and stir gently but thoroughly until all pieces are evenly coated in the chocolate mixture.
  4. Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray. Pour the Cheerios mixture into the prepared pan and press firmly and evenly into the pan using a spatula or wax paper.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until completely set. Once firm, lift the treat slab from the pan and cut into 2-inch squares.
