How to Make Italian Style Cheesesteak Sandwiches

  1. Marinate the thinly sliced steaks in 1/2 cup of Italian dressing for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steaks and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Do not overcook; the internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  3. In a separate skillet, sauté the thinly sliced onions and bell peppers with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar over medium heat until softened and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  4. Spread the garlic butter evenly onto the cut sides of the rolls. Place the rolls cut-side up on a baking sheet.
  5. Layer provolone cheese slices over the garlic butter on the rolls.
  6. Broil in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Slice the cooked steak into thin strips and divide evenly among the rolls.
  8. Top the steak with the caramelized onions and peppers.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Italian-style cheesesteak sandwiches!
