How to Make Neapolitan Pound Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 12-cup fluted tube pan using solid shortening or margarine.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together 8 ounces cream cheese and 3 large eggs until smooth.
  4. Add 1 box (15.25 ounces) of your favorite white cake mix and 1 cup milk to the cream cheese mixture. Beat on high speed for 2 minutes.
  5. Divide the batter into three equal portions (approximately 2 cups each).
  6. To the first portion, add 1 packet (3.4 ounces) strawberry milk drink mix. Mix well.
  7. Pour the strawberry batter into the prepared pan.
  8. To the second portion, add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix well.
  9. Pour the vanilla batter over the strawberry batter.
  10. To the remaining portion, add 1 packet (3.4 ounces) chocolate milk drink mix. Mix well.
  11. Pour the chocolate batter over the vanilla batter.
  12. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  13. Let the cake cool upright in the pan for 45 minutes.
  14. Run a knife or spatula around the edges of the cake to loosen it from the pan.
  15. Carefully remove the cake from the pan.
  16. Let the cake cool completely on a wire rack.
  17. Dust with powdered sugar, or serve with ice cream and chocolate sauce, if desired.
