- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 20cm square baking pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the malted milk powder, flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, oil, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the milk.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the cakes are baking, prepare the ganache: Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate and let it sit for 1 minute. Stir until smooth and glossy. Let cool slightly.
- Once the cakes are cool, frost the top of one layer with a generous amount of ganache. Top with the second cake layer.
