Ingredients for Apple Butter Harvest Bars

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • White Sugar
  • Brown Sugar
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Rolled Oats
  • Pecans
  • 1 cup apple butter

How to Make Apple Butter Harvest Bars

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg yolks one at a time until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the oats and nuts.
  6. Press half of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  7. Spread the apple butter evenly over the crust, leaving about ½ inch of space from the edges.
  8. Crumble the remaining dough over the apple butter layer, pressing gently to ensure the apple butter is fully covered.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
  10. Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
