How to Make Barbecued Oven Chicken
- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Butterfly a whole chicken (approximately 3-4 lbs) and place it skin-side up in a baking dish.
- Spread 1/2 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce evenly over the top of the chicken.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Flip the chicken, and spread the remaining 1/2 cup of barbecue sauce over the now-topside.
- Reduce oven temperature to 350°F (177°C).
- Cook for another 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
