How to Make Logman's Best Lemonade
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Reduce heat to low. Add 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice to the sugar syrup. Stir gently and simmer for 2 minutes.
- Add the zest of 2 lemons and 1 orange (about 2 tablespoons total zest). Stir gently, remove from heat, and let stand for 2 minutes.
- Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the zest. Discard the zest.
- To quickly cool the syrup, place the saucepan in a larger bowl filled with ice water, stirring occasionally, until completely cool. Alternatively, allow to cool completely at room temperature.
- Once cooled, cover and refrigerate the syrup until ready to use. This syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- To make lemonade, combine 1 part chilled syrup with 3-4 parts cold water. Adjust the ratio to your desired sweetness.
- Serve immediately over ice, garnished with lemon wedges or fresh mint (optional).
