Cómo preparar Candied Ginger Cardamom Bars

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9x9 inch square baking pan.
  3. Finely chop 1 cup of crystallized ginger and set aside.
  4. In a food processor, combine 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cardamom, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  5. Pulse to combine.
  6. Cut 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, chilled and cubed, into the flour mixture.
  7. Process until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  8. In a small bowl, lightly beat 1 large egg. Add 2 tablespoons of the beaten egg to the food processor and mix until moist crumbs form.
  9. Add the chopped candied ginger and pulse until moist clumps form. Do not overmix.
  10. Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  11. Brush the remaining beaten egg over the top of the dough.
  12. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the center is set.
  13. Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting.
  14. Cut into 18 bars and enjoy!
