Como fazer Lemon Lime Bars

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
  3. Line the pan with parchment paper, ensuring it extends up the sides.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1/4 cup cornstarch, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  5. Cut in 1 cup (2 sticks) cold unsalted butter using a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Press the crumb mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes.
  8. While the crust is baking, whisk together 4 large eggs, 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar, 1 cup half-and-half, and 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour in a medium bowl.
  9. Divide the egg mixture in half.
  10. In one bowl, stir in the zest and juice of 2 lemons.
  11. In the other bowl, stir in the zest and juice of 2 limes and a few drops of green food coloring (optional).
  12. Remove the crust from the oven and carefully pour the lemon filling evenly over the hot crust.

  14. Carefully pour the lime filling over the lemon filling.
  15. Bake for another 10-12 minutes, or until the lime filling is set.

  17. Lift the bars from the pan using the parchment paper overhang.
  18. Cut into bars and sift powdered sugar over the top.
