Ingredients for Atholl Brose
- Old Fashioned Oatmeal
- Enough Scotch whisky to fill a quart-sized bottle
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup honey
How to Make Atholl Brose
- Combine 1 cup of rolled oats with 2 cups of water in a bowl. Stir to create a thick paste.
- Let the oat mixture stand for 1 hour to allow the oats to absorb the water.
- Carefully strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean bowl.
- Use the back of a spoon to press firmly against the oat solids, extracting as much liquid as possible. Discard the remaining oat pulp.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the strained oat liquid with 1/2 cup of honey until well combined.
- Gently pour the honey-oat mixture into a quart-sized bottle.
- Fill the bottle to the top with your favorite Scotch whisky.
- Securely cork the bottle. Shake well before serving. Enjoy responsibly!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
