How to Make Chocolate Nut Toffee Bars

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens slightly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  5. Evenly spread the toffee mixture into the prepared baking pan.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the toffee.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the toffee is golden brown and set.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
  9. Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler or microwave. Once melted and smooth, pour over the cooled toffee and nut mixture.
  10. Spread the chocolate evenly and let it set completely in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  11. Once set, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into squares and serve.
