How to Make Malteser Cakes

  1. Melt 200g milk chocolate, 100g margarine, and 100ml golden syrup together in a large microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth and completely melted.
  2. While the chocolate mixture is melting, crush 200g digestive biscuits and 150g Maltesers into small pieces using a food processor or by hand.
  3. Add the crushed biscuits and Maltesers to the melted chocolate mixture. Stir well until everything is thoroughly combined.
  4. **Option 1 (Cake):** Line an 8x8 inch square baking tin with parchment paper. Pour the mixture into the tin, spread evenly, and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or until firm. Cut into squares before serving. **Option 2 (Individual Cakes):** Spoon the mixture into paper cake cases, filling them about ¾ full. Insert a mini chocolate egg into the center of each cake (optional). Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or until firm.
  5. Once chilled, remove from the tin or cases and enjoy your delicious Malteser Cakes!
