Pumpkin Tarts Recipe

Indulge in the delightful flavors of autumn with these irresistible Pumpkin Tarts! This recipe offers the best of both worlds: you can use canned pumpkin for that classic, thick pumpkin pie texture, or opt for fresh-cooked pumpkin for a lighter, mousse-like consistency. Fresh pumpkin creates a less sweet, fluffier filling, perfect for those who prefer a less intense sweetness. Whether you're craving a traditional tart, a single-crust pie, or a unique individual custard dessert, this versatile recipe has you covered. Plus, our instructions make it easy, so you can enjoy these delicious tarts year-round (frozen pumpkin makes it possible!). Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of butterscotch for an extra decadent treat!

How to Make Pumpkin Tarts

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. If using fresh pumpkin, roast and puree it before starting. If using canned pumpkin, make sure it's well-drained.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, sugar, eggs, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg until smooth.
  4. Stir in the milk and melted butter until well combined.
  5. If making tarts, roll out the pie crust and cut into 6 (or more) circles. Press into tart tins.
  6. If making a pie, roll out the crust and place into a 9-inch pie plate.
  7. Pour the pumpkin filling into the prepared tart shells or pie crust.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes for tarts, or 60 minutes for a pie, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  9. Let cool completely before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and butterscotch sauce, if desired. If serving as individual custards, bake in a muffin tin for about 20 minutes
