How to Make Pumpkin Tarts
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- If using fresh pumpkin, roast and puree it before starting. If using canned pumpkin, make sure it's well-drained.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, sugar, eggs, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg until smooth.
- Stir in the milk and melted butter until well combined.
- If making tarts, roll out the pie crust and cut into 6 (or more) circles. Press into tart tins.
- If making a pie, roll out the crust and place into a 9-inch pie plate.
- Pour the pumpkin filling into the prepared tart shells or pie crust.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes for tarts, or 60 minutes for a pie, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Let cool completely before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and butterscotch sauce, if desired. If serving as individual custards, bake in a muffin tin for about 20 minutes
