How to Make Apple Bread Crock Pot
- Grease two 1-pint straight-sided, wide-mouth canning jars well. Lightly flour the inside of each jar and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
- In a separate small bowl, combine 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup vegetable oil (or melted butter), 2 large eggs, and 1/2 cup applesauce.
- Gently pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Stir in 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional).
- Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared canning jars.
- Cover each jar with greased aluminum foil, grease side down.
- Place the jars in your Crock-Pot. Add 1/2 cup of warm water to the bottom of the Crock-Pot, surrounding the jars.
- Cover the Crock-Pot and cook on high for 1-2 hours, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Carefully remove the jars from the Crock-Pot and let cool for 10 minutes.
- Run a knife or spatula around the edges of the bread to loosen it from the jars.
- Invert the jars onto a wire rack or plate to release the apple bread.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
