How to Make Vanilla Cranberry Sauce
- Combine 12 ounces fresh cranberries, 1 cup sugar (or vanilla sugar for extra vanilla flavor), ½ cup water, and 1 vanilla bean (split lengthwise) in a medium saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries begin to burst.
- Remove the vanilla bean from the saucepan. Using the tip of a knife, carefully scrape the seeds from the inside of the bean and add them back to the sauce.
- Return the spent vanilla bean to the sauce. Continue to simmer and stir occasionally for another 5 minutes, or until the cranberries have softened and the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Remove the vanilla bean before serving. Allow the sauce to cool completely before serving or refrigerating. Enjoy!
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld (optional).
