How to Make White Buttercream Icing

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together 1/4 cup (60ml) water, 1 teaspoon Creme Bouquet flavoring (or substitute), 1 cup (2 sticks) Crisco, and 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter until light and fluffy.
  2. Gradually add 6 cups powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating on medium speed after each addition.
  3. Continue beating on medium speed until the icing is light and fluffy, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. Add more water, 1 teaspoon at a time, to thin the icing or more powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, to thicken to your desired consistency.
  5. Do not add more Creme Bouquet flavoring if making a double batch.
