Como fazer Green Tomato Chutney

  1. Wash and roughly chop all vegetables.
  2. In a large pot, combine the chopped green tomatoes, onions, garlic, ginger, green chilies, vinegar, sugar, salt, mustard seeds, and turmeric powder.

  4. Reduce heat to low, and simmer uncovered for 60-90 minutes, or until the tomatoes are tender and the chutney has thickened. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  6. While the chutney simmers, prepare your sterilized jars and lids.
  7. Carefully ladle the hot chutney into the hot, sterilized jars, leaving about ½ inch headspace.
  8. Wipe the rims of the jars clean, and seal tightly with lids.
  9. Process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes (for pints) or 15 minutes (for quarts) to ensure safe preservation. (Note: if not canning, skip this step and store in the refrigerator)
  10. Let the jars cool completely. You should hear a ‘pop’ sound as the jars seal.
