Como fazer Kalakand

  1. In a large, microwave-safe bowl, combine 2 cups milk powder, 1 cup granulated sugar, and 1 cup ricotta cheese. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  2. Add 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter to the bowl and mix until the mixture is completely smooth and very thick.
  3. Microwave the mixture on high for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from the microwave and stir vigorously. Microwave again for 4 minutes.
  5. Repeat step 4, microwaving in 4-minute intervals and stirring in between, until the mixture turns a rich, golden brown color. (Total microwave time will be approximately 16-20 minutes, depending on your microwave).
  6. Gently stir in 2-3 strands of saffron.
  7. Pour the mixture into a greased 8x8 inch baking dish or similar sized container. Allow to cool completely at room temperature.
  8. Once cooled, garnish with 1 teaspoon cardamom powder, 1/4 cup chopped cashew nuts, and 1/4 cup slivered almonds.
