Como fazer Vanilla Slice

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a 23cm square baking pan with foil, allowing the foil to overhang the sides.

  4. Fit one pastry sheet into the prepared pan.

  6. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.
  7. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils and thickens.
  8. Reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes, or until very thick and smooth.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in egg yolks and vanilla extract.
  10. Pour the hot custard over the pastry in the pan.
  11. Top with the remaining pastry sheet, flat side up. Press down gently.
  12. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the custard to set.
  13. **Prepare the Passionfruit Icing:** In a heatproof bowl, sift icing sugar. Add softened butter, passionfruit pulp and juice. Gradually add water, mixing until you have a stiff, spreadable paste. If necessary, gently warm the icing over a pan of simmering water until it reaches desired consistency.
  14. Spread the passionfruit icing evenly over the top of the vanilla slice.
  15. Cut into squares and serve. Best served chilled. Store leftover slices covered in the refrigerator (do not freeze or microwave).
