Ingredients for 5 Minute Wet Beef Green Chile Burritos

  • Roast Beef In Gravy
  • Diced Green Chilies
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Wondra flour
  • 1 (15 ounce) can refried beans
  • Monterey Jack Pepper Cheese
  • Flour Tortillas
  • sour cream (optional, for garnish)

How to Make 5 Minute Wet Beef Green Chile Burritos

  1. Place 1 pound of thinly sliced roast beef in a medium saucepan and mash lightly with a fork.
  2. Stir in 1 (4 ounce) can of chopped green chiles, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin, 1/2 cup beef broth, and 1 tablespoon Wondra flour.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes, or until the sauce has slightly thickened.
  4. While the beef simmers, place 1 (15 ounce) can of refried beans in a microwave-safe bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave on high for 2-3 minutes, or until heated through.
  5. Warm tortillas. You can heat them over an open flame on the stovetop, turning frequently, or heat them on a griddle or frying pan, turning once. (Aim for 1-2 minutes per tortilla)
  6. Place a warmed tortilla on a plate and spread with about 1/4 cup of the refried beans.
  7. Remove a generous serving of the beef and green chile mixture from the saucepan with a slotted spoon and place it over the refried beans.
  8. Top with 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese).
  9. Fold in the sides of the tortilla about 2 inches.
  10. Roll the burrito tightly, starting from the side closest to you and rolling away from you.
  11. Ladle a tablespoon or two of the extra beef & green chile sauce over the burrito and top with a sprinkle of extra cheese.
  12. Garnish with a dollop of sour cream, if desired.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
