How to Make 5 Minute Wet Beef Green Chile Burritos
- Place 1 pound of thinly sliced roast beef in a medium saucepan and mash lightly with a fork.
- Stir in 1 (4 ounce) can of chopped green chiles, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin, 1/2 cup beef broth, and 1 tablespoon Wondra flour.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes, or until the sauce has slightly thickened.
- While the beef simmers, place 1 (15 ounce) can of refried beans in a microwave-safe bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave on high for 2-3 minutes, or until heated through.
- Warm tortillas. You can heat them over an open flame on the stovetop, turning frequently, or heat them on a griddle or frying pan, turning once. (Aim for 1-2 minutes per tortilla)
- Place a warmed tortilla on a plate and spread with about 1/4 cup of the refried beans.
- Remove a generous serving of the beef and green chile mixture from the saucepan with a slotted spoon and place it over the refried beans.
- Top with 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese).
- Fold in the sides of the tortilla about 2 inches.
- Roll the burrito tightly, starting from the side closest to you and rolling away from you.
- Ladle a tablespoon or two of the extra beef & green chile sauce over the burrito and top with a sprinkle of extra cheese.
- Garnish with a dollop of sour cream, if desired.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
