How to Make Apple Cinnamon Butter Crunch
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a 9x9 inch or 11x7 inch baking pan with butter.
- In a medium bowl, combine all the butter crunch ingredients (see below) and mix well with a wooden spoon until thoroughly combined.
- Press half of the butter crunch mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Use the back of a spoon to evenly distribute and press lightly.
- Bake for 15 minutes, or until the crust is lightly golden brown.
- While the crust bakes, prepare the apple filling: In a large bowl, combine the peeled, cored, and sliced apples (about 4 medium), brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and melted butter. Toss gently to coat evenly.
- Carefully pour the apple mixture over the baked crust.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the filling is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining butter crunch mixture evenly over the top.
- Return to the oven for 10 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is set.
- Let cool completely before serving. Enjoy warm, or serve chilled with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
