How to Make Bbq Pulled Chicken Sandwiches
- Place 2 lbs of partly frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a slow cooker.
- Pour 8 ounces (1 cup) of ginger ale over the chicken.
- Cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the chicken is easily shredded.
- Carefully remove the chicken from the slow cooker and discard the cooking liquid.
- Shred the chicken using two forks directly in the slow cooker.
- Pour 1 ½ cups of your favorite barbecue sauce over the shredded chicken.
- Stir to coat the chicken evenly in BBQ sauce, and cook on low for another 2-4 hours, or until the chicken is extra tender and has absorbed much of the sauce.
- Serve the pulled chicken on hamburger buns. Garnish with your favorite toppings, such as coleslaw, pickles, or onion rings.
- Leftovers reheat beautifully!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
