How to Make Beer Boiled Ham
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
- Unwrap the ham and place it in a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot.
- Pour 2 cups of beer (preferably a dark lager or amber ale) over the ham, ensuring it's mostly submerged. Add 1 cup of water to the pot.
- Add 1 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup honey, 1 tablespoon whole cloves, 1 teaspoon ground allspice and 1 teaspoon ground black pepper to the bottom of the pot.
- Cover the Dutch oven and bake for 2-4 hours, or until the internal temperature of the ham reaches 145°F (63°C). Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. Flip the ham halfway through cooking.
- Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving. The resting time allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful ham.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or your favorite holiday garnish, and enjoy!
