Ingredients for Beer Brisket

  • Beef Brisket
  • Onion
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • Seasoning Salt
  • 12 ounces of your favorite beer
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

How to Make Beer Brisket

  1. Preheat oven to 225°F (110°C).
  2. Tear off a large sheet of heavy-duty aluminum foil (approximately twice the length of your roasting pan).
  3. Line a large roasting pan with the foil, centering it and folding up the sides and ends to create a foil packet.
  4. Place a 3-4 lb brisket in the center of the foil.
  5. Generously sprinkle the brisket with 2 tablespoons garlic powder, 1 tablespoon black pepper, and 1 tablespoon seasoned salt.
  6. Scatter 1 large chopped onion (about 1 cup) over the brisket.
  7. Pour 12 ounces of your favorite beer over the brisket and onion, ensuring everything is contained within the foil.
  8. Seal the foil tightly, crimping the edges to create a secure seal. Fold the sides up first, then the top.
  9. Place the foil packet in the preheated oven and cook for 8 hours.
  10. Remove the foil packet from the oven (do not turn off the oven).
  11. Carefully open the foil packet.
  12. Pour off and discard the beer.
  13. Discard the onions if desired.
  14. Pour 1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce over the brisket.
  15. Reseal the foil packet tightly.
  16. Return the foil packet to the oven for 30 minutes.
  17. Remove the roasting pan from the oven.
  18. Let the brisket rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
