How to Make Chocolate Caramel Picnic Brownies
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a 13x9 inch baking pan.
- Unwrap 1 bag (40 pieces) of Rolos candies and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine one 15.25 oz box of chocolate fudge cake mix, 1/2 cup (1 stick) melted unsalted butter, 1/3 cup milk, and 2 large eggs.
- Stir with a wooden spoon until well blended. The batter will be thick.
- Press half of the brownie batter evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Bake for 6 minutes in the preheated oven.
- Remove from oven and evenly sprinkle 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1/2 cup toffee bits over the top.
- Arrange the Rolos candies on top, pressing gently into the batter. Arrange 5 across and 7 down.
- Do not press all the way to the bottom; leave some space between the candies and the bottom of the batter.
- Spread the remaining brownie batter evenly over the Rolos and toppings.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with only a few moist crumbs attached.
- Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into 35 squares.
