How to Make Coffee Turkish Style
- Add the finely ground Turkish coffee, water, and sugar (and cardamom pods, if using) to a 4-cup cezve (a long-handled Turkish coffee pot).
- Gently heat the mixture over very low heat, stirring constantly with a small spoon to prevent scorching, until the mixture is well combined.
- Continue heating, stirring occasionally, until a thick, creamy foam (foam should rise above the liquid line) begins to form on the surface of the coffee. Do not let the coffee boil.
- Carefully pour a small amount (approximately 1 tablespoon) of the foamy coffee into each of your demitasse cups.
- Return the cezve to the very low heat, continuing to stir, until the coffee is close to boiling—small bubbles will appear around the edges and the coffee may rise slightly in the pot.
- Immediately remove the cezve from the heat. Slowly pour the remaining coffee into the demitasse cups, on top of the foamy layer. The remaining sediment should remain in the cezve.
- Let the coffee settle for a few moments before savoring the rich, intense flavor. Enjoy immediately!
- Do not consume any sediment remaining in the cezve or the cups.
