How to Make Arabic Coffee The Saudi Way
- Add 3 cups of water to a small pot and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Add 6 tablespoons of finely ground Arabic coffee to the boiling water.
- Reduce heat to low, and gently simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching.
- Remove from heat and let the coffee steep undisturbed for 5 minutes to allow the grounds to settle.
- Carefully pour the coffee into a small kettle or serving pot, leaving the coffee grounds behind in the original pot.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of ground cardamom and a pinch (about 1/8 teaspoon) of saffron threads to the kettle.
- Gently heat the coffee in the kettle until it is just about to simmer (do not boil vigorously at this stage).
- Serve immediately in small traditional coffee cups, sweetening to taste with sugar or honey.
