How to Make Egg Mice
- Gently remove a thin slice (about 1/8 inch) from the bottom of each hard-boiled egg to create a flat base, preventing rolling.
- This flat side will be the bottom of your mouse.
- Slice a salami stick lengthwise in half.
- From each salami half, cut two thin, lengthwise strips (about 1/4 inch wide) for the tails.
- Cut the remaining salami halves in half crosswise to create four ear pieces.
- At the smaller end of the egg (opposite the flat base), make a small slit in the center just large enough to insert a small broccoli floret – this is the nose.
- Just above the nose, make two tiny holes and insert two raisins for the eyes.
- On each side of the egg, starting at the smaller end near the nose, cut two small slits (about 1/3 of the way down the egg). Insert the triangular salami pieces (ears) into the slits.
- Cut a small cheese cube in half crosswise to create two triangles; one for each mouse.
- Arrange the egg mice on a dark-colored platter or serving tray. Decorate with cheese triangles and serve immediately.
