How to Make Slumber Party Baked French Toast

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Cut the challah bread into 1-inch cubes.
  3. Spread the bread cubes in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Toast for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly dried.
  4. Grease a 9x13 inch glass baking dish.
  5. Place the toasted bread cubes evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  6. Scatter raisins (or chopped fruit) evenly over the bread cubes.
  7. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  8. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, gently pressing down with a spatula to ensure all pieces are soaked.
  9. Cover the baking dish tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 4 hours).
  10. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  11. Remove the baking dish from the refrigerator and let it stand at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  12. Uncover the baking dish and sprinkle the cinnamon evenly over the top.
  13. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the French toast is puffed, golden brown, and set.
  14. Let the casserole stand for 5 minutes before serving.
  15. Cut into 12 squares and serve warm with extra maple syrup and fresh berries.
