  1. Prepare a large square (approximately 24x24 inches) of cotton or linen cloth. Boil a large pot of water.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients until well mixed. Add milk gradually until a thick, but not wet, consistency is achieved.
  3. Dip the linen cloth into the boiling water for a few seconds, then remove and wring out excess moisture. Sprinkle the cloth generously with flour (about 2 tbsp).
  4. Place the dumpling mixture in the center of the prepared cloth, leaving enough room around the edges to tie securely.
  5. Carefully gather the edges of the cloth and tie tightly with kitchen twine, ensuring the dumpling is completely sealed. Avoid overcrowding the cloth to prevent splitting.
  6. Place a heatproof plate in the bottom of a large saucepan. Carefully place the tied dumpling into the saucepan.
  7. Pour enough boiling water into the saucepan to cover the dumpling completely (about halfway up the sides of the dumpling).
  8. Bring the water back to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer gently for 3 hours. Top up with hot water as needed to maintain water level.
  9. After 3 hours, carefully remove the dumpling from the saucepan using tongs. Place it on a wooden cutting board.
