Ingredients for Apple Butterflies
- 8 tablespoons peanut butter (plus 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon)
- Baby Carrots
- Red Apple
- 2 small celery stalks
- Decorator sugar (to taste)
How to Make Apple Butterflies
- Spread 2 tablespoons of peanut butter onto the center of each of 4 individual plates.
- Shape each mound of peanut butter into an oblong shape approximately 2 inches long and 1 inch wide.
- Place 1 small carrot (about 4 inches long) down the center of each peanut butter mound.
- Cut 1 medium apple into quarters.
- Remove the core from each apple quarter.
- Cut each apple quarter into 7 thin slices (about 1/8 inch thick).
- Cut 1 apple slice in half crosswise.
- Fan 3 apple slices on each side near the top of the carrot to form the upper wings.
- Place 1 half-slice on each side near the bottom of the carrot to form the lower wings.
- Place 2 small strips of celery (about 1 inch long) at the top of each carrot to form antennae.
- Sprinkle the apple slices with decorator sugar.
- Decorate the wings with your choice of raisins, craisins, peas, fruit loops, or Cheerios.
