Ingredients for Aussie Scones
- Self Raising Flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- Caster Sugar
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 150ml milk
- 50g unsalted butter, melted
How to Make Aussie Scones
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Melt 50g of butter. In a separate bowl, lightly beat 1 large egg and add 150ml of milk.
- In a large bowl, whisk together 225g self-raising flour, 40g caster sugar, 1 tsp baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
- Gently pour the melted butter (step 2) into the egg and milk mixture (step 2), mixing lightly.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients (step 3) and mix until just combined. Do not overmix!
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
- Pat the dough to a thickness of approximately 2cm.
- Use a 5cm cookie cutter (or a knife) to cut out scones.
- Gently push the scones together slightly.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serve warm with clotted cream and jam.
